You can’t have escaped the news reports about the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on 1.5°C. The report suggests we have just 12 years to save the planet by changing from fossil fuels to green energy.

This means that we all need to our part to help the planet. You may be forgiven for thinking that changing your consumption has little effect but there are almost 8 billion people on our little blue planet. That’s a lot of straws and disposable plastic that can be avoided.

How much plastic wrap do you go through in your home? These can easily be replaced with soy wraps and you can make your own. You can also buy them in places like Etsy.

Instead of picking up disposable knives and forks at lunchtime take along your own cutlery set. You can either make your own storage bag or purchase one. This one also comes with a reusable straw.

A lot of establishments are beginning to use paper straws in their drinks and some countries are even banning them. If you can’t go without there are a few eco-alternatives. Paper, bamboo and steel straws are all more sustainable alternatives. Take your zero-waste kit with you wherever you go and you’ll be doing your bit for the planet.
